STRONG IMPACT OF COVID-19 ON OUR TOURS

The state of alarm declared by the government of our country, due to the expansion of COVID-19 virus, has forced us to a total confinement from march to may 2020 which caused the cancellation of the whole cultural and artistic activity programmed in Spain for months. The same situation has been given in the whole planet and we have witnessed how the health and lives of many citizens in the five continents had suffered severely, as well as social customs and cultural programs have been dramatically affected.

In IKEBANAH we have been forced as well to cancel all our tours planned from march to july in China, Taiwan, Macao, Japan, Germany, United Kingdom, France, Portugal and, of course, Spain. During the quarantine we have been following closely the day to day and we hope that some of the proposals scheduled for August and September can still be mantained. We wish as well that normality may fully come back to our calendars and scenic agendas from October.

We will be publishing new news and live dates in our agenda in the coming weeks. We hope that this time of confinement and standstill had really been of some use to our governments in order to reflect on the way our society moves forward and that culture continues to be an impulse and an essential encouragement in their plans, as a catalyst to make everyone's life healthier, mentally and emotionally.

We are next to all the families who have been suffering the effects of this pandemic in all its aspects, personally and professionally. And, above all, we want to thank all the artists in our country for their generosity and commitment to emotionally relieve in an altruistic manner those who suffered most.

A hug to all, we keep going, in the present, without forgetting what we have left behind while striving for a more supportive and just future.

FETEN AWARD FOR CONSERVANDO MEMORIA (PRESERVING MEMORIES)

The 29th edition of FETEN, Performing Arts Fair for Child and Youth, which brings together every year the whole sector, was held from 9th to 14th February in Gijón, where El PATIO TEATRO received the BEST AUTHORSHIP AWARD (ex aequo with Pata Teatro) for his play PRESERVING MEMORIES (Conservando Memoria).

Conservando Memoria is a homage to the roots and the ancestors of Izaskun Fernández, the actress, who, with emotion, truth and simplicity, with a poetic discourse, a visual language and a few objects, knows how to open the jars of memory of each spectator and how to touch the strings of their heart, as only a few are able to achieve.

OPENING SEASON 2019 - 2020

We closed the season 2018-19 with overwhelming numbers: 444 performances, 28 countries visited, 19 companies and 27 shows on tour…

And we start the season with relevant news for Spain:

• We incorporate the show M.A.R., by Andrea Díaz Reboredo, into our scenic family. M.A.R. is a proposal of proximity that, through theatre of objets, expands on concepts of space and architecture.

• The impressive ‘The Table’, by Blind Summit, comes back to the peninsula, this time on tour in Portugal in October and November, in outstanding programas of Porto (Teatro Municipal de Oporto) and Lisbon (Museu da Marioneta).

Conservando Memoria, emotional work by El Patio Teatro, brings us to theatre fairs of COFAE such as Fira Mediterránia of Manresa or FIET in Vilafranca de Bonany.

2019 has emerged as a year of consolidation with respect to national and international presence of IKEBANAH and proposals we stand for.

6 long-term tours to Asia in addition to other visits between March and December (Ponten Pie in China, Japan y Singapore, double of Teatre Animal in China, El Patio Teatro in China and Japan, Aracaladanza in Macao and China, L'Home Dibuixat, Xirriquiteula and Bufa & Sons in China, Javier Aranda in South Korea) confirm that our major distribution market this year has been Asia, besides Spain.

There have been important raids to South America as well, with VUELOS by Aracaladanza in prestigious theatres of Peru and Chile and others to North America with the premiere of VIDA at FIAMS (Biennial of Puppetry, Saguenay, Canada).

In 2019-20 let's look at Spain and Europe a little more without leaving our asian raids, so this is an invitation for those who stay in national and European territories to follow, look for us and enjoy our artists and special, unique, beautiful shows that we represent.

Enjoy them!

19th and 20th September

Ponten Pie presents ÂRTICA, his award winning show, at Festival MIM Sueca. A non-conventional and non verbal show, in which the theatre experience turns into a sensory adventure in itself.

ÂRTICA is a visual piece, a delicacy for only 20 people who witness a curious fact that happens in a log cabin with 6 degrees temperature.

The show has a long history of tours and several awards since its premiere at FIRA TÀRREGA 2013 (Moritz Award for the Best Show at Fira Tàrrega and Drac d'Or for the Best Scenography at Fira de Titelles de Lleida 2014).

It is rare to see Ârtica in Valencian lands so its performances at MIM 2019 will be an exquisite gift for spectators in Sueca, Valencia and surroundings.

¡¡¡If you are near we recommend you to attend!!!

HAKANAÏ in MOLINA DE SEGURA:
26th September

The International Theatre Festival of Molina de Segura, organized by Molina de Segura City Council celebrates his 50th anniversary.

Ikebanah participates this year in this special edition with HAKANAÏ by ADRIEN M & CLAIRE B.

A total of 22 shows, 8 on-stage and 14 street performances, and a round-table are part of the program. The festival was born in 1970 as Ciclo de Teatro Nuevo, at the initiative of Agrupación de Teatro Experimental de Molina (Grupo ATEM) and in the eighties became the embryo of the festival we know nowadays.

HAKANAÏ will be represented at Teatro Villa de Molina. It will be a premiere in the Murcia region and an excellent chance to see this immersive, unique piece. A sort of 'visual haiku', as has been described, which combines interactive technology, visual arts and contemporary dance, and which has toured festivals in Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia and Las Palmas in the last years.

VUELOS (FLIGHTS) by Aracaladanza, from Chile to China
From 19th July to 1st September

At the 500-year anniversary of Leonardo da Vinci's death, Aracaladanza couldn't celebrate better than an impressive tour of five cities between Latin America and China.

The National Theatre of Peru was pioneer and premiered VUELOS last May in Lima, this July the company will premiere in Chile in two very important and prestigious cultural spaces of the country: CORPARTES in Santiago de Chile and TEATRO DEL LAGO in Frutillar.

After a short break the company will be again on stage and will premiere VUELOS in China at MACAO CULTURAL CENTRE and SHANGHAI CHILDREN'S ART THEATRE.

We know that the flight of imagination of Aracaladanza has no limits but... to be able to fly hand in hand with Da Vinci, Enrique Cabrera's artistic team and his 5 magnificent dancers to those scenic spaces in just one month goes far beyond our imagination!
